About Us

We are a leading Medical Charity with a history of success. With tremendous local fund raising support, we have played a major part with the NHS in establishing the Cheltenham Oncology Centre caring in particular for patients suffering from cancer throughout Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. We were prime movers in establishing the Gloucestershire Breast Screening Service, providing both equipment and accommodation from which the service operates.

Since the early 1990’s, we have brought, not only to the local community but also to other areas, an MRI Scanning Service renowned for the quality of its pictures and reporting- a huge benefit in diagnosing diseases. We provide MRI scans for patients being treated at the Cheltenham Oncology centre and residing within the beneficial area with their MRI scans at no charge to them or the NHS. This cost of approximately £180,000 per year is covered entirely by the Appeal Fund.

We are now taking dramatic steps forward - both in the funding of NHS projects and in the development of our own diagnostic services.

In MaY 2006, our latest major achievement – a £7million state-of-the-art diagnostic centre - opened the doors to its first patients.

The Centre, a two-storey extension of our Linton House Clinic in Thirlestaine Road, Cheltenham, houses Gloucestershire’s first Positron Emission Tomography (PET)-CT scanner providing doctors with an important tool to aid the early diagnosis and location of cancers. The scanner will also help to identify degenerative neurological conditions such as Alzheimers disease at its earliest stage in their development, enabling patients to gain the maximum benefit from advances in medicine.

In addition, our trustees are working closely with the NHS Three Counties Cancer Network, promising to provide funding of around £1.62 million for equipment and services to enhance the lives of cancer patients locally.

We also provide Cancer Prevention/Education Services and fund hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cancer research projects each year.

We are at the forefront of the local fight against cancer; many of these projects would not be possible without our hard working volunteers, local community groups, donations and corporate support.

THANK YOU!
